So today I upgraded all my lab environment to Server 2016 RTM.

I did an in place upgrade (not something I would of done in the past but Microsoft say its the way forward).  4 of my hosts were fine but my main host with one of my DC’s on it and Kemp Virtual Loadmaster appliance were stuck in the saved state.


I kept getting this error when trying to start them:


‘failed to restore virtual machine state’

Then I realised I was being stupid.  If you look at the screenshot above, there are duplicate VM’s.  I had 2 x DC’s and 2 x VLM’s.  I just deleted the duplicated SAVED VMs and started the correct ones and everything was good.
